Just Another Day

Thousands, if not millions will write about what happened in Bombay on the night of 26th of November, 2008 and the following day(s). Some posts like Amit’s and Arnab’s will also be read by thousands. Idiotic articles about the “spirit of the mumbaikar” will appear in the front pages of the vernacular as well as the nationals. Spirit – Bullshit. Do the mumbaikars or the dilliwallahs have a choice?

Tomorrow these terrorists will be killed, some civilians will die and others will be rescued. Day after tomorrow it will be business as usual. Reliance up by 5%. 300 employees asked to resign by TCS. Inflation back to 11%…

We will discuss the “incident” at coffee machines or at the lunch table in our office and then get back to our laptops silently thanking God that we and our loved ones were spared. Its always an incident if it doesnt affect you. When it strikes closer home…

I have no new questions to ask. I have no solution to offer.

Our so called journalists (read Rajdeep Sardesai and all @ToI) want us to be proud of an “Indian” becoming a governor in US or dying while coming back into the planet’s orbit. Today the same journalists shout their mouths off on TV and write articles with the same cliches. Today our PM says we will never bow down to terror. Tomorrow his allies will question why muslims were killed and his opponent will try to save a sadhvi. Today and tomorrow, I as an Indian, will hang my head in shame and cry. Cry for I am helpless. Cry for I deserve this. And you who is reading this should also feel a little bit of moisture in the corner of your eyes. Cry for you countrymen. Cry for your country.
